“ADOPT a TURTLE” Subic/Bataan Eco Tour

February 24 to 25, 2007

Marine Turtles are transboundary creatures, they travel great distances to feed and grow. But because as hatchlings the imprint the magnetic fiel of area they always go back to where they were hatched after 25 to 30 years to copulate and lay their eggs.

How ever communities especially in underdeveloped countries, uninformed of their functions in the environment have hunted them down in the sea or slaughtered them while they lay their eggs in the beach for their shell and skin. While their eggs and meat are collected as food.

NACCI is promoting and supporting the Pawikan Conservation Center, a community based project of reformed poachers in the protection of the turtles.


ITINERARY

Feb 24 Sat 5am Assembly at the bus station in Quezon City

Bird Eco Center in Subic

Extreme Adventure Park (Canopy Walk and adventure ropings)

Pawikan Conservation Center, Orientation, Film Showing,

Turtle releasing awarding for being a Certified Environmentalist,

Bonfire & Fun Group Dynamics

Silent time to watch the turtle eggs hatch

Option to volunteer to patrol the beach and/or collect eggs for transfer

Feb 25 Sun Beach Swimming, Beach Bumming, Swimming, Relax

OPTION to go fishing with the fisher folks

Mangrove Park Walk, JEST Butterfly Garden & Mini Zoo
